Certification Ratings

Although all of the participating gins must comply with the good ginning practices advocated by the program, gins can further distinguish themselves by electing to be rated in one or more of the certification levels. Breaking down the ratings into individual categories rather than applying one overall rating, allows gins the flexibility to concentrate on their highest priorities. It also gives cotton buyers using this program the ability to zero in on their highest priorities.
As the program sponsor, Samuel Jackson also lends support from the rest of its staff on a as needed basis. They lend a wide assortment of skills and technical expertise that can be called on as needed by the demands of the program.
The result is a system which increases the information exchange between stakeholders.

  • Members are rated at their request and only in the certification levels they select.

  • Each member elects which ratings they want published.

  • Ratings are on a scale of 0 to 1.0

  • Because the ratings must cover a wide range of technologies in a gin, a 1.0 rating is reserved for systems that fulfill maximum potential and is difficult to obtain.

  • The rating system is designed such that an 'average' system (if present) in a Certified Cotton Gin would receive a rating of 0.5.

  • Gins outside of the program would have an average below 0.5.

  • To maintain consistency, each category has a score sheet.

  • These scoresheets are available on the website.

  • Members can dispute the rating and request a review involving the Advisory Board.


Where are the ratings?

The Certified Cotton Gin staff is currently in the process of
notifying gins of their ratings options and collecting the necessary
information to complete the rating scoresheets.

Once the initial collection round is complete, the ratings will
be available on this website in a password protected area.
Free site registration will be available at that time, allowing
interested parties to view the ratings at no charge
by simply logging into this site.
